‘한글’은 1446년 세종대왕이 만든 독특한 문자입니다. ‘한글날’은 한글 선포를 기념하고 한글의 보급과 연구를 장려하기 위해 10월 9일로 지정된 국경일입니다. 579회 한글날을 기념하기 위한 포스터를 제작했습니다.
훈민정음 서문에 나오는 창제목적의 의미를 전달하고자 ‘문맹’의 의미를 주제로 포스터를 디자인했습니다.
“우리나라 말은 중국 말과 달라서 한자어와는 서로 통하지 않는다. 그러므로 백성중에는 하고 싶은 말이 있어도 끝내 자신의 뜻을 글로 표현하지 못하는 사람이 많다. 내가 이를 딱하게 여겨 새로 28자를 만드니, 사람마다 쉽게 익혀 일상에서 편하게 쓰도록 하고자 할 따름이다.”
이 글은 훈민정음의 서문으로 세종대왕이 한글을 창제하신 배경과 목적을 설명합니다. 세종대왕은 일반 백성들이 쉽게 배우고 사용할 수 있는 문자를 창제함으로써 의사소통의 불편함을 해소하고자 하셨습니다.

‘Hangeul’ is a unique Korean alphabet created by King Sejong in 1446. ‘Hangeul Proclamation Day’ is a national holiday designated as October 9 to commemorate the proclamation of Hangeul and to encourage the spread and research of Hangeul. In 2025, We designed a poster to commemorate the 579th Hangeul Proclamation Day.
To convey the meaning of the purpose of creation as stated in the preface to the Hunminjeongeum, We designed a poster with the theme of “illiteracy”.
“Our language differs from Chinese, so it does not communicate with Chinese words. Consequently, many common folk, though they have things they wish to say, ultimately cannot express their thoughts in writing. Finding this regrettable, I have created twenty-eight new characters, intending only that everyone may learn them easily and use them comfortably in daily life.”
This text serves as the preface to the Hunminjeongeum, explaining the background and purpose behind King Sejong the Great's creation of Hangeul. King Sejong sought to alleviate the difficulties of communication by creating a script that ordinary people could easily learn and use.
